What Lee Requires for a Residential Analysis

The accuracy of a Classical Feng Shui analysis depends entirely on what the client provides. Each item below serves a specific function in the Xuan Kong analytical process.

Property Layout with 8 Compass Directions and Degrees

A compass-calibrated floor plan showing all eight directions with exact degree readings. Hand-drawn is acceptable — the compass accuracy matters, not the drawing quality. Calibrate your phone compass before taking readings.

Include in the layout: main door, kitchen, all toilets and bathrooms, all bedrooms, windows, balcony, back door if any, and any large metal cupboards or metal items. For the full property analysis, all 8 directions with degrees are required. For the personal consultation, 4 directions are the minimum.

Birth Dates and Times of All Family Members

Required for BaZi cross-referencing. Each family member's birth date and time produces a personal Four Pillars chart revealing their Day Master element and personal favourable and unfavourable directions.

This is what makes the consultation person-specific: which bedroom suits which family member, which sleeping direction is best for each person, and which sectors each individual should use or avoid. Without BaZi, the consultation cannot produce individual guidance.

When the Family Moved In

Not when construction was completed. When the current residents occupied the property. This determines the Flying Stars construction period for the natal chart. A building completed in Period 8 but occupied after February 4, 2024 is a Period 9 property with a completely different natal chart.

Also provide: property type (apartment, independent house, or villa), number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and any notable external features such as roads directly facing the main door or elevated structures nearby.

Main Concerns to Address

The specific issues the household is experiencing — financial stagnation, health patterns, relationship strain, career difficulties, poor sleep, or concerns about a particular area of the home.

Knowing what the family is experiencing helps Lee focus the analysis on the sectors most likely to be contributing to those patterns and prioritise the recommendations accordingly.

For apartments: The facing direction used for the Flying Stars natal chart is the building's main facing direction, not the individual flat's door direction. All flats in the same building share the same natal chart base. This is the single most important instruction for Indian apartment residents and the most common source of self-assessment error.
Important: Inaccurate compass directions provided by the client and any product placements made on the basis of inaccurate readings are the client's responsibility. Lee's analysis is only as accurate as the information she receives.

The Room-by-Room Assessment

What Lee Analyses in a Residential Property

Using the Xuan Kong Flying Stars natal chart of the property, Lee assesses every major area. Each area is evaluated against the Mountain Star and Water Star combination present in that sector and whether those stars are auspicious or inauspicious in the current Period 9.

Main Door — The Primary Assessment Point

The main door is the mouth of Qi for the entire property. The Water Star at the facing direction determines what energy enters the property every time the door opens. Lee identifies this Water Star, its timeliness in Period 9, and whether the main door sector is activating auspicious or inauspicious energy for the household.

A Water Star 9 (Fire, the reigning wealth star in Period 9) at the main door facing is one of the most auspicious configurations currently available. A Water Star 5 at the main door is the most critical situation requiring immediate remedy.

All Bedrooms — Most Critical for Health and Relationships

Each bedroom is assessed against the Mountain Star in that sector. The Mountain Star governs the health and relationship energy of whoever occupies that room. Lee cross-references the Mountain Star's timeliness with the BaZi of the specific occupant to determine whether that bedroom is a good match for that person.

The same bedroom can be excellent for one family member and poor for another. Sleeping direction is also assessed per person based on their BaZi — which compass direction the head points during sleep is one of the most impactful adjustments from a residential consultation.

Kitchen — Governs Health and Nourishment Energy

Kitchen position relative to the Flying Stars chart determines what health energy is active in the food preparation area of the home. An inauspicious Mountain Star (Star 2 or Star 5) in the kitchen sector requires a specific Metal elemental remedy to prevent the illness energy from affecting the health of all who eat food prepared there.

The kitchen also carries a fire-water dynamic between the stove and sink positions that is assessed as part of the residential consultation.

Living and Dining Areas — Family Harmony and Social Energy

The living area sector's star combination determines the social and family harmony energy of the household. The Southwest sector (Star 2, Kun trigram, matriarch energy) is particularly relevant here for the quality of relationships within the family.

Sofa and seating placement within the living area is recommended based on which direction provides the most support for the primary occupants using that space daily.

Bathrooms — Assessed for Inauspicious Star Interactions

Bathroom placement relative to the Flying Stars chart matters because bathrooms carry continuous draining energy. A bathroom in a sector with an auspicious star suppresses that star's beneficial energy for the household. Lee identifies each bathroom's sector and what it means for the life area that sector governs.

A bathroom in the Northeast sector (Star 8, knowledge and wealth) is one of the most frequently encountered problems in Indian residential consultations and is addressed as a priority in the remedy specifications.

Missing Corners — Structural Weaknesses

Irregular floor plans — common in Indian apartments and independent homes built on irregular plots — create missing sectors in the nine-palace grid. A missing corner in any sector weakens the life area that sector governs for all occupants. Lee identifies missing corners, what they mean for the household, and the boundary treatment options for addressing them without structural renovation.

Person-Specific Analysis

How Each Family Member's BaZi Is Cross-Referenced with the Property

The Flying Stars chart tells Lee what energy is in each sector of the property. The BaZi of each family member tells Lee what each person needs from their environment. Combining both produces recommendations that are specific to each individual in the household, not generic advice applicable to anyone.

Sleeping Direction Per Person

Each person's BaZi Day Master element reveals which compass directions support their energy and which exhaust or conflict with it. The sleeping direction — the compass direction the top of the head points during sleep — is one of the most impactful personal adjustments from a residential consultation.

Lee provides a specific sleeping direction for each family member. A sleeping direction that supports one person may conflict with another, which is why the BaZi of all occupants is collected before recommendations are finalised.

Working and Sitting Direction Per Person

The direction a person faces while working, studying, or sitting at a desk activates the Qi of that compass direction for that person. A favourable working direction supports focus and career momentum. An unfavourable one can create fatigue, mental resistance, or career blockages.

For households with school-age children, the study direction is assessed per child based on their individual BaZi to support academic focus and performance.

Sector Assignment Per Family Member

Based on each person's BaZi and the Flying Stars configuration of each sector, Lee identifies which bedroom, study space, or work area is most suited to each family member. This determines bedroom assignments for children and the master bedroom direction for the couple.

The goal is to place each person in the sector whose Mountain and Water Stars most support that individual's energy, health, and career profile.

Overall Property Suitability Per Member

A complete residential consultation identifies whether the property's natal chart overall is fundamentally supportive or challenging for each primary occupant. Some properties suit the husband's BaZi very well while being neutral or mildly challenging for the wife, and vice versa.

Lee identifies this and produces recommendations that maximise the property's potential for the whole family, prioritising the occupants who spend the most time in each area.

How Classical Feng Shui Applies to Indian Residential Properties

Indian residential properties — from Mumbai high-rises to Chennai independent houses to Delhi bungalows — have specific feng shui considerations that Lee addresses directly in every residential consultation. These are situations that generic Western feng shui content does not cover.

Apartments

Indian Apartments — 1 BHK through 5 BHK and Above

Indian apartments present specific feng shui challenges. The building's facing direction determines the natal chart for every flat in that building — not the individual flat's door. Many Indian apartment residents have received BTB or door-aligned Bagua advice and found the results inconsistent. The Classical compass-based assessment using the building's actual facing direction produces fundamentally different recommendations.

Lee's residential consultation covers apartments from 1 BHK through 5 BHK and above. The complete layout including all rooms, bathrooms, windows, balcony, and compass directions is required for the full Flying Stars assessment.

Common problems Lee encounters in Indian apartments:

Independent Houses and Villas

Independent properties provide more flexibility for Classical feng shui optimisation because the facing direction can be chosen before construction begins. For properties being built or renovated, Lee can assess the plot or architectural plan and recommend facing directions, main door placement, kitchen position, and master bedroom location that produce a more auspicious Flying Stars natal chart for the specific family.

For existing independent houses, the in-person consultation in Chennai adds the external Form School assessment: the road approaching the main door, the slope of the surrounding land, water bodies in the four cardinal directions, and any neighbouring structures that create poison arrows or beneficial landforms.

Independent houses with exterior features — garden, plot, pond, or swimming pool — carry an additional assessment charge. Lee will confirm this after reviewing the property layout.

Vastu Context

Homes with Existing Vastu Layouts

Many Indian families have existing Vastu-compliant layouts or have made changes based on Vastu principles. Classical Feng Shui and Vastu share some foundational principles — directional awareness, the importance of the entrance, and the role of energy flow — but differ significantly in methodology.

Lee's Classical assessment does not conflict with Vastu placement where both systems align. Where they differ, her Flying Stars analysis takes precedence in her recommendations. She works with the property as it is, identifying what the Flying Stars chart reveals regardless of the design intention behind the existing layout.

Online — Across India and Dubai

The Xuan Kong Flying Stars analysis for a residential property requires the floor plan with correct compass directions and degrees, birth details of all family members, and occupancy details. All of this can be provided remotely. The Flying Stars natal chart, BaZi cross-referencing, sector-wise recommendations, and elemental remedy specifications are identical whether delivered online or in-person.

In-Person — Chennai

For in-person residential consultations, Lee physically examines the property before the compass reading. She assesses the external environment — roads approaching the main door, neighbouring structures, the landform surrounding the property — and the interior layout and room flow that a floor plan alone does not fully capture.

This adds the Form School (external environment) layer of assessment to the Flying Stars and BaZi analysis. Yes. Renting does not limit what a Classical consultation can address. Sleeping direction, working direction, furniture placement, and most Five Element elemental remedies require no structural changes. The Flying Stars chart of the property applies to you as the current occupant regardless of whether you own or rent. Many of Lee's most effective recommendations involve no renovation at all.

The natal chart of the property is permanent and the core recommendations do not expire. Annual Flying Stars change every year on February 4th, which is why Lee includes the current year's annual star overlay in the deliverable. Annual updates are recommended to address the incoming year's star movements, particularly when inauspicious annual stars land in key sectors like the main door or master bedroom.

Conflicting favourable directions between family members are common and expected. Lee prioritises the primary occupant for each key sector, typically the breadwinner for the study and work area and both partners for the master bedroom, and optimises for the most important interactions first while minimising conflicts for other members where possible. This is standard practice in every multi-member residential assessment.

Both, but placements always come first. Sleeping direction, furniture position, and sector usage are the priority. Elemental remedies in the form of authentic Five Element products are recommended only where the Flying Stars chart identifies an inauspicious star requiring an elemental counter.
